I was always lucky to have a full head of hair when I was young. A few years ago and now in my 50th decade, my hair has been thinning out, unfortunately. Stress and perimenopause plays into hormonal changes. Stress? What possible stress have we been dealing with these last few years?! 🤪 😮💨
I’ve been loving Vegamour GRO revitalizing shampoo for 6 months or so. It has a yummy smell and absolutely helps with growth and adding fullness! I am also using for my thinning eyebrows their GRO serum. The picture of my eyebrows are after 2 months of use, only 1x/day. It calls for 2x.
After I shampoo, I use “The Crown Pleaser” hair mask by Stripes. LOVE how it leaves my hair feeling soft, but not flat and gives it extra shine.✨✨ Check it!
I’ve tried alot of CBD gummies. Martha Stewart’s line is absolutely D-LICIOUS, of course. It’s Martha Stewart! I highly recommend them. 🍊10 mg of CBD per gummy 🍋Vegan 🍍Cruelty Free 🍇100% natural American grown hemp 🥥THC free 🥭Made in the USA
I gasped. This dress had me at hello lover. I have always admired, drooled and was just so inspired of how the legendary costume designer Patricia Field put outfits together for the series Sex and The City. Beyond my imagination. 🫰 🫰The beautiful fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker beloved Carrie Bradshaw’s choices were IT for me. Her style overall is fashion goals. For the reboot, costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago took the reins and I die for Carrie’s outfits. IMHO, perfect for her character. Classy, sexy, fun but just a bit more mature. In the season 2 finale, she is stunning in this Oscar de la Renta gown. A cool $13K, but leave it Carrie to pair it with simple leggings. And a fabulous sparkly shoe to boot. A must, of course. The elegant sheer sleeve?! I can’t. Beyond my wildest dreams. 👌🏼👏🏼😍 Looking forward to season 3!
Give something a chance! This fun 2 piece outfit was misplaced where I was shopping @ T.J.Maxx. It was sitting solo, looking lonely 😄 and it happened to be my size. I took it as a sign. 😉 At 1st glance, it was giving me tropical muumuu vibes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not something I would normally pick out. But the bright colors appealed to me and it was too fantastic a price to pass up. Purchased. A good example to try something on. Don’t judge an outfit on it’s hanger. You might be happily surprised! ❣️Wear with flip flops for a beachy vibe, or an open toe wedge sandal for a dressier look. 😊
I may have said “awesome” and “helped so much” one too many times, but sorry not sorry. 🤷♀️ It is and it has! Thank you @naomiwatts for creating this line of products imastripes specifically for us seasoned and refined gals who have braved battles and definitely earned their stripes. 💓
💥Products also sold on Amazon and Sephora! Stripes face product review coming soon! 🤗
This year’s theme was titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Various fashion houses created designs in his honor. I really loved a lot of the looks this year with the bows, leather and flowers galore. Classy mixed with rock-n-roll. Here’s some of my favs. And honorable mention for Jared Leto dressed as Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette (who has her own IG, an agent, staff and an inheritance, naturally). The kitty declined an offer to attend the Gala. 😉 *Images courtesy of Getty.
I’ve touched on this in a previous post but want to hit some points again about creating your own unique style. I was talking with girlfriends over the weekend, and someone said I don’t have good style like you. I’m like, but you can! I realized after it sounded like I’m confirming that she did not have style and that’s not what I meant. Insert foot…😬 I meant that everyone has a style. We just need to find out what it is! I often get complimented on my style and am frequently asked where I shop. In brief, I shop everywhere. I will buy things from a cute boutique store in a city I’m visiting. I will shop the discount rack of a major store or Nordstrom Rack. I mix up my looks. A pricier blouse paired with a beloved old pair of jeans, etc. If you tend to shop only at say J. Crew or Old Navy, you will generally be tied to the trends of the store. J. Crew is more preppy, classic, tailored. I actually love J. Crew. I shop and find items there as well. The bottom line is to mix it up. That will give you a unique look. World Market is fabulous! Lots of great, cool and reasonable accessories. Try thrift shopping! Tie a scarf around your neck or use it as a headband or head scarf. Have you tried different hats on? They instantly add style. Maybe the fedora is not your speed. Try a fisherman’s cap. You were gifted a fab pair of neon lime green earrings? Awesome! Work an outfit around them. I’m ALL for neon! I recently purchased some lime green dressy shorts that I’ve yet to wear. Very 90’s which is BACK as you may or may not know. 🙌🏼
Another friend told me recently, I don’t even know what my style is. I asked her-who’s style do you admire? Think of someone in the public eye that grabs your attention. What colors do you like/dislike? What color looks great on you? What washes you out? Take pictures of yourself wearing different colors. Reach out to a trusted friend or family member and ask them their opinion on the colors. Said friend is currently working on a Pinterest board! Or if you’re old school do a physical vision board. That’s a great place to start.
Shopping can be daunting and overwhelming. Try to be patient. Take your time. There’s tons of inventory online. Filter your findings by size, arm or leg length, a particular color, etc. Check return policies. If you buy from major stores and they’re local to you, purchase items to try on at home and then return to the store directly. I’ve found since the pandemic, inventory in the physical store is hit or miss. Mostly misses, selections wise. I’m also here to help if you need advice! Message me! 😃 Let’s see your true colors shine through!
White was very popular for gowns this year! I need to 1st start with Michelle Yeoh. She just made history to become the first Asian woman to win best actress Oscar, at the young age of 60! 👏🏼👏🏼 She has a long impressive career in acting so I am beyond ecstatic for her. Long overdue and utterly ridiculous that it took this long for an Asian American female to be recognized. I also bawled when Ke Huy Quan won and had such an emotional speech. 😭 So happy for him!
Back to fashion.
💃Michelle Yeoh’s elegant dress is by Dior Haute Couture. Haute Couture, in case you didn’t know, means “high sewing,” in French. It’s an exclusive custom-fitted design constructed by hand from start to finish. For this particular dress, it took more than 200 hours to assemble and the team spent 450 hours embroidering the feathers and silk! Talk about a labor of love. She looked beautiful.
💃Michelle Williams always classy in Chanel. Loved the shear sparkly overlay.
💃Mindy Kaling?! W O W! She is in amazing shape and stunning in Vera Wang.
💃The always gorgeous Halle Berry in Tamara Ralph. The bejeweled roses tied in with her rose gold heals? I need! I’ve never seen a misstep with her fashion and styling.
💃Ariana Debose in custom Versace. I really love Ariana, a triple threat. Amazing energy and talent.
💃Sofia Carson in a custom Giambattista Valli. Her FABULOUS jewels are by Chopard and include 122.49 carats of emeralds and 92.57 carats of diamonds. 😱
💃And I saved some bold color for the end. Cara Delevingne in a scarlett red Elie Saab Couture gown. Her makeup is perfection. Cara is wearing Bulgari diamond jewels. The jeweled encrusted snake necklace has an emerald green eye. Love this whole look. 👌🏼
It was ALL about the men’s fashion this year. That’s what stood out to me. I appreciate how much fashion has evolved for menswear. No longer the basic penguin suit. Jerrod Carmichael, the host, alone really stole the show in my opinion. I mean, a pale pink suit with pale pink loafers? Yes. And donning a white double breasted suit with a delicate strand of pearls? Double yes. I loved it all. Honorable mention to Eddie Redmayne in Valentino.
Denim. I think we all have a love/hate relationship with jeans. Obviously we worry about fit. Over time, our bodies change and grow and shrink and grow and change some more. We won’t look the same in jeans as when we were young. And that’s ok. Some of us have had children, surgeries, health issues, gone through depression or dealt with anxiety. It’s life. What I don’t want us to get caught up in is size. As you may or may not know, different brands run VERY different in the same size. In fact, I’ve seen 2 pairs of jeans, same size and brand look inconsistent. Below are examples of some of my jeans showing these discrepancies.
Size 10 or 30 From top to bottom: Wit & Wisdom Levi’s Kut from the Kloth NYDJ 360 NYDJ Mavi Old NavySize 12 or 31 From top to bottom: Pilcro and the letterpress from Anthropologie J.Crew Express Skinny Girl by Bethenny Frankel
Because of my body type, hippy with an apple bottom 🍎, I prefer denim with some stretch and gravitate towards a “skinny” jean. If the size 10 is way too tight, give the size 12 a try. Or if the size 12 fits but is a little loose and you’re working on some weight loss, go with the size 10. The bottom line is comfort is important. But so is fit. Too tight or saggy jeans won’t be flattering or compliment your curves. I know baggy jeans are in right now. I’m not particularly a fan. I personally believe wearing extra baggy anything makes one look much bigger. I’m not judging if that’s the look you are going for. Just don’t be down on yourself with a number stuck in your head. Does a pricier name brand mean a better fit/higher quality denim? Yes and no. Levi’s is the OG creator of jeans. They’re quite affordable. Some are uber pricey because they have a celebrity attached to it. And yes, the feel of some of the more expensive denim can feel weightier and more buttery. As far as longevity is concerned, I’ve read and been told by “experts” to not wash your jeans too often. That will break down the denim. And don’t throw them in the drier. Air dry them. Right now, my favorite pair is by Express. 😉 Which, btw their skinny jeans run small. I layed a 12 against 2 other brands in a size 10 and they measured the same. Easy tip. If you find a brand of jean you feel great in, that compliments you, and works within your budget, get them in different washes! Jeanius, amiright? 😊👖
