Spring has sprung!

We made it through winter! Although the crazy cold wind says not so fast. So what are some Spring inclinations we can be looking out for and possibly adding into our wardrobe? Sorbet Pastels! Yes! I am all for it. And perfect timing as most of the Bay Area counties are moving into the ‘orange’ tier! Yahooo!! Which also means we are able to safely go…places! A perfect time to purchase a few new items. I found this amazingly gorgeous dress from Anthropologie. It’s not “technically” sorbet, but the colors are certainly invoking Spring time. I also love that it’s available in petite, standard AND plus sizes. Another item popping up in the fashion world is a yellow purse, bag or clutch. I dig Kurt Geiger. I have a purse by him and the bejeweled eagle head (his signature) is everythinggg. This bag I found at Dillard’s will go swimmingly with the dress. Another 90’s item that has been literally clinging on to stay relevant is the hair claw. This set is certainly not the boring solid black banana clip of my olden days. 😉 Got the Covid vaccine? Congrats! Go buy yourself something pretty. You deserve it! 🙂

Yes.

Don’t forget your neck/decolleté!

I do NOT want a wrinkly neck or chest. Who does?! In the last several years, I have noticed increasing lines on my decolleté and around my neck. I tried a few neck creams that didn’t work well for me. They run the gamut in prices and almost every major brand makes one. I finally tried this by Sisley as it claims to refine, “lift”, smooth, tighten and nourish this delicate area. It is pricey but a little goes a long, long way. I rarely splurge this much on 1 product. It has oat seed extract, rhatany extract, soy fiber, red algae extract, vitamin E, shea butter and sunflower oil to name a few ingredients. I personally love the scent but it may not be for everyone. I recommend smelling it in person. However, it doesn’t linger long after. It is incredibly rich but doesn’t feel sticky or heavy. I really really wish I had take a before picture. Ignore the sun spot. I am working on lightening it. And I DID NOT adjust/filter the picture in any way. I promise you, the cream did indeed tighten, and smooth the lines on my decolleté. I started it in Jan. 2021, once a day in the evening and I missed a few days here and there, so not even a full 3 months. Jar is still full. 🙌 So for me, worth the price!

Taking care of yourself & others By: Kristell M.

I started walking last March, 2020. I needed more of a push to help me lose weight and feel good about myself, so I signed up for a virtual 10K walk-a-thon. It worked out perfectly as you can do it on your own schedule, solo, or with a friend, socially distancing. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have also donated to many good causes & charities. And I walked ALOT of miles. I am in the best shape of my life! And I finally lost the baby weight!!! (My kids are now in their 40’s). 🙂 I encourage you to try to make a difference, in some positive way. Make a healthy commitment to yourself and to those in need.

*Kristell volunteers at an amazing organization Flowers of Comfort in San Jose, CA started by 3 women. It is a wonderful charity that with the help of volunteers, arrange flower bouquets and deliver them to those in hospice care, eldercare and a housing facility. The flowers and vases are fully donated by the community, wholesalers, florists, weddings and corporate events. I love this so much. Want to help? Click here. 🙂

Kimono love

I LOVE KIMONOS. I need to wear cooler type items as I’m fast approaching 50. Clingy clothes no longer work for me. Kimonos are just so elegant. This is another great find at IVY Boutique in San Mateo. The kimono was thoughtfully made by a woman, Rose local in SF. I’m going to pair it with these beautiful earrings designed by IVY’s owner, Chelsey. You can wear a kimono as loungwear hanging around home, or with jeans out and about. I would say not to wear anything too baggy on the bottom as the kimono is loose. It will make you look shapeless. As for the shirt underneath, wear a more solid color if it has a pattern as most of them do. You don’t want to have too much competing visuals. The kimono should be the eye catcher alone. 😊

Hair scarves for the win!

A simple way to add some flair to an outfit (or cover up a bad hair day) is to throw on a head scarf. This particular one I’m wearing is a bit larger of a square shape. There are endless ways to rock one. They can sometimes slide off your head, so clip a bobby pin behind each ear to hold it in place. Can you tell I am SO READY for spring and summer?! 🙌🌞

UZ liquid eyeliner

As I’m getting older, my eyes are starting to droop a bit. Ughhh. Do I see an eye lift in my future? Probably not. I’m too scared to go under the knife. I love eyeliners. I’ve tried so many brands, and have always stuck to waterproof pencil liners. But I constantly have a problem with the eyeliner creasing in the middle of my eyelid after a short time. I’ve found the best solution for this issue are waterproof liquid eyeliners. I came across UZ when it popped up on my IG one day. This eyeliner is special. 1st of all, the colors offered are so cool and unique (light blue, PINK!, burgundy, yellow) besides traditional colors including 7 shades of black. And they are constantly creating new colors. 2nd, the brush. The brush. I am typing this directly from UZ website: ‘CRAFTED BY HAND An innovation 1,200 years in the making, YAMATO TAKUMI™ Brush is created by traditional craftsmen from the Kumano region of Japan, who hand blend custom-made fibers for firmness, flexibility and softness.’ Wow. 3rd, the products are hypoallergenic, most are gluten free and all are cruelty free. Their packaging is made from recycled material as well. Lastly, well, how did it last? FABULOUS!! It stayed put pretty much all day with no smudging. Sold. Happy lining! UZ.

Don’t let _____ take up space in your head.

I’ve been dealing with an annoying battle re: our health insurance. I’ve been on the phone back and forth and have spent countless hours trying to resolve it. Every time I stay on hold, I can feel my blood pressure rising and heart beating faster when I have to rehash my “story”, case #, name, addy, SSN etc. Can’t I just speak to the same person prior, please?! I’ve yelled and cussed (offline) but have still managed to remain polite to the many agents I’ve spoken to. Then I hear, no one is available on the weekend so it will have to wait til Monday. I’m ready to snap. And of course, I realize snapping at this customer rep is not going to help and it will literally ruin her day. Who wants to be yelled at? Think about how you would feel if this were a reverse situation. My mind is telling me: Treat others as you want to be treated. I make several points to the rep in a louder tone, calmly but bluntly. I get off the phone, vent to my hubby, and then calm myself down. I take some deep breaths, and remind myself, there’s nothing more I can do right now. Sure, you probably will stew about it a little longer. You’re only human. But do try to ease your mind. This too shall pass. The issue at hand most likely WILL indeed get resolved. It just won’t be today. Take a walk or go on a bike ride. Hang with a loved one or go chill by yourself with your many streamed shows waiting in your queue. Have a glass of wine (or 2) or whatever beverage will make you happy. LET THAT S#!& GO. Don’t let it ruin your day or weekend.

Yes.
